Hip hop stereotypes

                                                                      Hip hop stereotypes

Within the hip hop industry there are many stereotypes when it comes to women, money and power. This multimillion industry has many controversial stereotypes and portrays many things and objects in a bad light, leaving parents cautious on what they buy and let their teens watch and listen to. One of the most interesting stereotypes is hip hop’s view on man hood and the many benefits or the bad things that come with it. In some ways I agree with the statement, I agree in many different societies and places this view of man hood is what the majority of young teens aspire to. Subsequently if they do not conform and adapt to this mentality they will struggle to live in their environment. However the statement “you must be strong and tough, you must have a lot of women and money, you must always be in control, and you must always dominate women and other men” can be found in many places in life not just in the hip hop culture. In essence although it’s not shown as explicit as in hip hop music, money, power and women come hand in hand. In most cases having money results in having power which also is followed by women or men, although this concept is primal it is still very much alive and thriving in today’s modern world. On the other hand I do believe it can become dangerous to try and live up to these expectations especially in areas where the hip hops culture is more of a very real way of life. So I do agree with a small aspect of the statement which states that men have to be strong and tough but it does depend on the area you come from, I believe controversially   a nice image to some; having all those perks , it can be dangerous to live up to these aspirations
